The Circus In Winter began at Ball State University where it was honored at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC as the recipient of 11 Kennedy Center National American College Theatre Festival Awards, including Outstanding Production of a New Work. Following, Circus had its New York debut at the Festival of New Musicals starring two-time Tony® Award Winner Sutton Foster and its full professional premiere at the Norma Terris Theatre at Goodspeed Musicals, starring Dee Roscioli (Wicked, Cher, Fiddler on the Roof). 

Since revisiting the piece at The Circle Series at Circle on the Square Theatre in NYC, the creative team has thoroughly examined the historical context of this 1890s post-Civil War/pre-Reconstruction era setting and made significant changes to the book, while keeping the style of the beloved music central to this ensemble piece. This is where we stand today—we’re digging, learning, creating and looking for partners to join us in this journey.
